About us

In the Spring of 2006, we decided to take an extended vacation to France. A bit of a break from our hectic lives in White Rock, British Columbia. We sold our home, put the memories in a storage locker and said good-bye to our three adult children. It didn’t take long to relax into the French lifestyle...the “break” soon turned into months and before long it became apparent that we wanted to spend more time here and come back every year.

Owning a home in France that you only use a handful of times a year can come with its own share of worries and problems. That is why we starting thinking about co-ownership and our version of a home-share “ My Vacation Home In France” was born.

We started scouting for a great location; a short ride to Paris and on the train route would be preferable. In the heart of France, on the Loire and surrounded by vineyards would be idyllic. We came upon La Charité from the west, the view was magnificent. The 5 hundred year old stone bridge over the Loire, the ramparts and the ominous Cathedral towering over the medieval town at its feet. This small Burgundian town had fit our criteria to a tee; with all of its charm and history, we decided to purchase here. We found an 11 century priory house that was once home to the Cistercian monks. We soon discovered that restoring a 900 year old structure and keeping it authentic comes with many challenges. We renovated this home extensively to reveal all of the beauty and charm of generations past including oak beams, stone walls and stone lintels. This is “Maison Champ Baratté.” After this project, we purchased two other homes in the village. One of them is our current project for sale, “Maison Vauyon” which is about 300 years old. It also came with it own renovation dilemmas but turned out beautifully with many special features. We have also purchased a large 800 year old building in the middle of town,”Maison La Charité” this structure is home to 6 apartments and 2 huge wine cellars. Renovations are in progress with completion expected in the near future. Shares will be made available soon. Please contact us if you would like more information on any of these projects.
